Guidelines for the waste disposal of the flocked swab

2022-05-30

1.Medical waste disposal forms closed-loop management.

  • After sampling, the head of the swab is loaded into the sampling tube, affixed with the    barcode equivalent to "ID card", carefully sealed bag, put into a transparent sealed box, and then sent by the staff wearing protective clothing to the laboratory's transport cabin.

  • From the transport cabin head to the laboratory for testing, outsiders can not enter at will.

  • The PCR laboratory is under negative pressure, and once the virus enters, it cannot exit. There is a strict medical waste disposal process, forming a closed loop management, and all medical waste takes a special elevator.

  • At the end of the day, waste collectors wearing full protective suits will come to the sampling point to collect waste.

  • First of all, the collector takes out the medical waste from the dustbin, firmly ties the bag mouth with a tie belt.

  • sprays disinfection and then binds it with a medical waste garbage bag, and transfers the waste to a special medical waste classification and collection point, waiting for the collection, transportation and disposal of the medical waste disposal unit.  "Every process will go through elimination. After elimination, it will be classified to the medical waste classification and collection point, and wait for the clearance department to deal with it.

2.Temporary storage point for clinical waste for 48 hours before removal.

  • All medical waste, including cotton swabs, from nucleic acid test collection points should be placed in the temporary storage point of medical waste for 48 hours, and then sent to the hazardous Waste disposal Center (hereinafter referred to as the Hazardous Waste Center) by the medical waste transfer vehicle after the test results are confirmed to be negative. The people who come into contact with these medical wasters, they're heavily armed.

3.Hazardous waste center above 1100 degrees Celsius high temperature incineration.

  • All clinical waste is transported to the hazardous waste Centre for cooking or incineration.

  • Entering the incineration center workshop, the air is filled with the thick smell of disinfectant. Workers in protective suits quickly unload the medical waste from the transfer vehicle and load the boxes into the bucket lifting machine, which slowly rises to the upper floor, while others spray disinfectant.

  • Upstairs in the surveillance room, the crew is directing the incineration workshop remotely. Click the mouse, the medical waste is automatically poured into the boiler from the bucket lift machine, and incineration begins. The minimum controlled temperature in the combustion chamber is 1100 ℃. Here, nucleic acid swabs are turned into ash and disposed of in landfills.

  • The flue gas generated after incineration of medical waste also needs to be treated with slaked lime and activated carbon. Apart from incineration, medical waste can also be converted into household waste by cooking and then sent to power plants for incineration.
